Why is it important that the body have two control systems rather than one?

It is important because that way our body can function better than if we only had one control system. Our body has two control systems: the nervous system and our endocrine system. With both of these, it is easier to respond to our surroundings and comprehend things better. The nervous system is important because it transfers messages from the brain to the body. It is the system that allows us to quickly react to what happens. An example would be the widening of your eyes when something frightens you. Our nervous system has two parts: the Parasympathetic System and the Sympathetic Nervous System. The Sympathetic system helps us decide whether one should prepare our body for fight or flight, which is known as the flight-or-flight response. As for the Parasympathetic System, it assists in calming down or body. Some signs of this system at work would be the decrease of heart beat and heart rate.

The Endocrine System is also a very important part of communication because it secretes hormones that helps our body survive the conflicts that we may face. Some hormones would include endorphins, adrenaline, and growth hormone.

In all, it is better to have two control functions such as the Endocrine System and the Nervous System because when there is two and not one control system, the communication we receive is of better quality.

Extra Credit Blog

What topics really confused you?
- A topic that confused me was the topics about all the bones because there were so much new words that I had to remember and memorize.

What topics do you feel very clear on?
- I felt pretty clear about the topics concerning stuff about the human body system and the cardiovascular system because I've already learned about in Biology Class.

What lab/ activity was your favorite? Why?

- My favorite lab was the the lab "Muscle Affecting The Pulse Lab". I thought the lab was pretty fun and I liked how we saw how different things such as music and exercising affected our heart rate. It was a fun experiment which filled like PE time.

What lab/activity was your least favorite? Why?
- My least favorite lab was the lab about the mink Lab. The mink smelled revolting and since I always have an urge to throw up when I smell something too strong, I did not like the time we had to spend dissecting the mink.

If you could change something about the class to make it better, for instance the type of homework (not the amount) what would it be and why?
-I guess there would be more group discussions. I find that group discussions are a good way to learn more things.

Blog 1 Diet Success

"Did you follow your diet plan for all four weeks? Why or why not? Predict your nutritional state in terms of nutrients"

During the four weeks I did follow my diet. To tell the truth I don't think I would have been able to have done  this without the help of my family and my friends. I told them about my diet project and they made sure I did not break my diet by eating any unhealthy foods such as french fries or sweets. For four weeks, I consumed lemon juice, meat products, certain fruits, and also vegetables. After having eaten like this is four weeks, I have felt that I got healthier.  Usually I don't partake in much fruits and veggies unless my parents force me to.  In order words, I'm usually a pretty picky eater. Nevertheless, during this diet I have been doing nothing but eat fruit and veggies. I think now, my nutritional state is one filled with an abundance  of proteins and Vitamin C.

Blog on Why is it hard for a fit person to get an exercise benefit?

It's hard for us to benefit from the exercise because we have to pass our limits. By this, I mean we have to increase the amount of heart beats we have. Whatever our heart rate is, we have to bypass that number. A fit person is used to a lot of exercise so they are already fit. As I learned from Abigail, it was hard for her to gain anything from her jumping jacks, running, and other forms of exercise, because she was already so fit. For someone who seems to be used to an abundant amount of exercise, it is difficult from them to gain from exercising.

Blog 18 Would You be Able To Be A Forensic Anthropologist and What You Learned From

The first time I read "Dead Men Do Tell Tales" I was pretty reluctant. As a person who does not like being exposed to the gruesome realities of life, I did not want to read a book about dead people. Nevertheless, I was surprised to find myself being captivated by the stories that Maples wrote about. As I flipped more pages and absorbed more stories, I began to actually find the book a pretty good read. Nevertheless, I will never consider being an Anthropologist. Even if reading about death is interesting, actually solving the crimes and having to be involved with dead people everyday of my life would be really depressing. And so, I do not consider an Forensic Anthropologist to be one of my career choices.

This book has impacted me more than I thought it would be. I realize how cruel the world can be and it makes me realize I have to be more careful out there in the real world. To continue, I am revealed to an perspective of an anthropologist and I am exposed to how they think.
